Fogelberg – The Lincoln Square Devil Dogs are the featured team in today’s 8 teams in 8 days.

Manager Lee Elia’s Lincoln Square Devil Dogs squad has been a favorite of ASB Classic fans since their introduction in 2008 when they earned a third place finish in the inaugural Classic. With a hands-on, politically in-correct approach, Elia’s antics have often been shocking, comical, inappropriate for children, and on occasion, masterful.

Terry Steinbach“Lee Elia and (Carlos) Zambrano are not afraid to get after each other,” said ASB Classic analysts Terry Steinbach. “I will never forget the time he pulled Zambrano’s pants down in front of the entire crowd and spanked him for a TERRIBLE pitching performance… The funny part is that Big Z’s next start was the best of his career! You can say what you want about Lee’s methods, but they work for a certain type of player!”

This years Devil Dogs are in a very nice position to draft a QUALITY single season player with their #4 overall position. The additions of John McGraw, Bill Joyce, and Roy Cullenbine to the draft along with players such as Frank Thomas, Ty Cobb, Billy Hamilton, Jack Clark and Rogers Hornsby give the Dogs plenty of options to build a team around.

Their draft position also gives them trade options. Could they trade the position to lock in a better career player draft position? Could they trade it for a “weekend beer bitch”? A bottle of OK Joe’s BBQ sauce? All of the above or anything else their heart desires… You bet the Jenks Wildcats and McCall Mudhens will be knocking on their door.

Ernie BanksOne other constant for Elia is the changing of Franchise players. Having eaten up Ron Santo and Aramis Ramirez in the first two Classics, former Chicago Cubs Shortstop Ernie Banks will get the nod this year. Having performed admirably on both Dogs’ squads, Banks seems like a perfect fit at a thin position. He also might help to lighten the mood around the clubhouse.

About Joe

I have been playing Cadaco All Star Baseball since before I knew what numbers were! ... After creating hundreds of discs, several original designs for stadiums and helping to brainstorm goofy additions to the game, I would LOVE to hear what YOU are doing with the game. My hope is to build a long lasting web community with a growing set of cool online ASB features!
