Forgelberg – In todays profile we visit the mountain town of Jenks, where the Wildcats have ruled since 2003. Every year a quiet, laid-back town at the foot of the Rocky Mountains explodes with baseball fever when their Wildcats take the field.
One of the original franchises and owners of 2 titles, the Cats have experience and a tenacity that few other franchises possess. It is not uncommon for a Wildcats pitcher to breeze a batter off the plate with a fastball toward the head, or a Wildcats baserunner to plant a spike in an unsuspecting second basemen.
With the fifth pick in this years Classic, the Cats will have their pick of either a home run bopper like Frank Thomas, Jack Clark, and Carlos Delgado or a super rabbit like Ty Cobb, Billy Hamilton, Wade Boggs and Joe Morgan.
Manager Joe ‘Ducky’ Medwick is known for drafting teams with high power numbers and massive walks. His lifetime player, Mike Schmidt embodies this philosophy with massive home run power and an ability to work the count. Look for the Cats to stick to more of a balanced attack that leans more toward power to compliment Schmidt in this Classic. This approach could lead them to newcomer Roy Cullenbine.
