Founders Cup Format Announced

Founders CupFogelberg – The format for the first ever Founders Cup Championship has been decided on by the participants. The Fogelberg Falcons, McCall Mudhens and Boggstown Boilers have decided to take ASB back to it’s roots and let the “career” players stretch their legs and show what they can do.

“When the (ASB) Classic was canceled, we decided to do something on a smaller scale.” Don Zimmer, manager of the Falcons, said. “I was talking with Jack (McKeon) and we thought this might be a good way to keep some of the tradition of the Classic till it returns next year… The idea was to remove some of the polish and glamour that the Classic has become known for and return to the games roots, which we all thought was to remove the single season boppers.”

Another concept was to take only three teams instead of the usual 6-8.

“Again, simplicity. These teams have been so important to keeping this game going … Of course Herzog and the Mudhens had to be a part of it. They have been kicking-butt lately and Jack and I wanted another crack at them.”

The event started with an unusual draft style that has never been done in the history of the All-Star Baseball League. Team names were drawn out of a hat and the owner of the first pick, The Boilers, drafted not one, but their entire roster from the career disks.

“Yeah, it’s kind of weird, but really cool if you take a look at the rosters,” Lou Boudreau of the Falcons said. “I think they show the players that the owners really like on their teams… Musial on the Hens’, Bishop on the Boilers, and me and Ralph (Kiner) here on the Falcons… It’s just really cool and I can’t wait for it to get started.”

The event will get underway at 9:05 tomorrow morning and last till a Champion is named.

About Joe

I have been playing Cadaco All Star Baseball since before I knew what numbers were! ... After creating hundreds of discs, several original designs for stadiums and helping to brainstorm goofy additions to the game, I would LOVE to hear what YOU are doing with the game. My hope is to build a long lasting web community with a growing set of cool online ASB features!
