Forgelberg – In todays profile we visit the mountain town of Jenks, where the Wildcats have ruled since 2003. Every year a quiet, laid-back town at the foot of the Rocky Mountains explodes with baseball fever when their Wildcats take the field.
One of the original franchises and owners of 2 titles, the Cats have experience and a tenacity that few other franchises possess. It is not uncommon for a Wildcats pitcher to breeze a batter off the plate with a fastball toward the head, or a Wildcats baserunner to plant a spike in an unsuspecting second basemen.
With the fifth pick in this years Classic, the Cats will have their pick of either a home run bopper like Frank Thomas, Jack Clark, and Carlos Delgado or a super rabbit like Ty Cobb, Billy Hamilton, Wade Boggs and Joe Morgan.
Manager Joe ‘Ducky’ Medwick is known for drafting teams with high power numbers and massive walks. His lifetime player, Mike Schmidt embodies this philosophy with massive home run power and an ability to work the count. Look for the Cats to stick to more of a balanced attack that leans more toward power to compliment Schmidt in this Classic. This approach could lead them to newcomer Roy Cullenbine.

30 Days till the All-Star Baseball Classic 2010.
“Lee Elia and (Carlos) Zambrano are not afraid to get after each other,” said ASB Classic analysts Terry Steinbach. “I will never forget the time he pulled Zambrano’s pants down in front of the entire crowd and spanked him for a TERRIBLE pitching performance… The funny part is that Big Z’s next start was the best of his career! You can say what you want about Lee’s methods, but they work for a certain type of player!”
One other constant for Elia is the changing of Franchise players. Having eaten up Ron Santo and Aramis Ramirez in the first two Classics, former Chicago Cubs Shortstop Ernie Banks will get the nod this year. Having performed admirably on both Dogs’ squads, Banks seems like a perfect fit at a thin position. He also might help to lighten the mood around the clubhouse.
“I have never seen a player absolutely BLOW UP the way Ty Cobb did in the Holiday League,” Joe Gordon said Monday. “McKeon and Cobb had a really special relationship and I am not sure that either one of them wanted it to be done. He was a great fit with Brett and The Classic is so much about getting people on base… when I talked with another unnamed source within the organization, word was that John McGraw was going to be the selection… Right now your guess is as good as mine!”

“You know, I think they are not too far away from being a BIG factor in the Classic,” Merrimack Owls lifetime player Ryne Sandberg said Tuesday. “They were REALLY tough in the I-70 and I think their scouting department has figured out how to draft a solid team.”
Fogelberg – Macintosh Stadium, or ‘The Mac’ is the final stop on our tour of fields that will be used in The All-Star Baseball Classic. Home to The Fogelberg Falcons, The Mac was designed by Cadaco in 1955 and was the stadium that my father played the game with my Uncle and I played with my Brother. Ryan and I started playing religiously on this stadium ten years ago when the Fogelberg Falcons and McCall Mudhens were developed.

Fogelberg – Last years All-Star Baseball Classic in Boggstown provided many firsts, but a seemingly insignificant fashion statement may become an ASB Classic staple. The mustache, which can be dated back as far as 300 BC, may be gaining traction in the ASB world as a sign of good luck on the spinners. All three top finishers from last years Classic sported the stache’ for the weekend leaving clean shaven upper lips out of the metal ceremony.
