McCall – It’s a little early to start talking about history, but after the McCall Mudhens 3 game drubbing of the Fleas last week in Westport there certainly is a buzz starting to hum around the streets of McCall these days. The local coffee shop has a sign stating “This is our year”, the dry cleaner has a “We Believe” sign flying above the cash register, and the city council building is getting into the act with a “Our team, our year” sign as you walk into the grand doorway.

Mudhens fans are as optimistic as ever for good reason, their team destroyed Fleas pitching for a team average of .445, with 11 home runs, 15 doubles and an unprecedented .516 on-base percentage in the three games. Six players in the Hens’ starting lineup (a national league team) have more than 10 total bases in three games and Hank Aaron absolutely blew up for 20 in the series. On paper their 11 home runs are a bit of a surprise, but for a franchise that has the record for most homers by a team with 36, the Hens’ have proven that they know how to hit the ball out of the park and are now on pace to destroy their previous mark by 8.

For the last remaining team that has not won a major title, the Mudhens dugout is nothing but business. “They are just doing what they do and letting the media do the talking,” ASB Network personality Joe Gordon said. “If I am them I try to drown out all the talk and keep playing ball! They have the team to get the job done, they just need to keep the wheels rolling.”

“I think they look real good. Real good,” McCall resident Chad Botz said from a local shop. “I just want to see em’ win it. I will follow them anywhere they go till they do!”

About Joe

I have been playing Cadaco All Star Baseball since before I knew what numbers were! ... After creating hundreds of discs, several original designs for stadiums and helping to brainstorm goofy additions to the game, I would LOVE to hear what YOU are doing with the game. My hope is to build a long lasting web community with a growing set of cool online ASB features!
